Our scholars receive tutoring and homework help from instructors in all Regents subjects including Living Environment, Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Spanish, English, U.S. and Global History, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus, Geometry, and Physics. The months of January and June are dedicated to Regents prep to ensure our scholars achieve outstanding scores on statewide administered exams.

Tutoring

Every student has access to 24/7 tutoring through the Photostudy App. The login information is their Vaughn email address. Students can also participate in live one-on-one tutoring with our instructors over Zoom. Tutoring is provided for English, Math, Science, History, Language, and more.

SAT/AP Prep

College entrance examination prep is offered either online, at Vaughn College, or at our high school campuses. All UB scholars receive free SAT fee waivers which include: two free SATs, with or without the essay, six free SAT Subject Tests, two free Student Answer Service (SAS) reports, unlimited score reports to send to colleges, waived application fees at participating colleges, and free CSS Profile applications to apply for financial aid from participating schools.

Summer Program

Six weeks in July to August. On Mondays through Thursdays, our scholars choose to participate in any of the high school level subjects above plus College English, College Calculus, Flight, Sports, Rocket Building, Hydroponics, Robotics, Career Development, and more. On Fridays, our scholars can choose to attend field trips for cultural and intellectual enrichment.

Field Trips and Workshops

Throughout the year our cultural field trips have included events such as a cooking workshop, drone flying workshop, the Liberty Science Center, Lunar New Year in Flushing, pumpkin picking, and more. Please note that all program components and services are subject to change.

College Tours

Upward Bound scholars participate in one day or overnight college tours throughout the year when school is not in session. We have visited institutions such as Bowie State University, College of William & Mary, Duke University, Penn State University, Columbia University, and other colleges and universities around the United States.

College Application Assistance

Common application, CUNY application, SUNY application, Coalition application, and more. Financial Aid Application and Scholarships

College is expensive but it does not have to be that way. Our students figure out how to get the maximum amount of financial aid through our Financial Aid Masterclasses. Most of our students qualify for 100% tuition-free college and they will learn how to apply to thousands of scholarships available.
